Streptomycin

An antibiotic produced by the soil actinomycete Streptomyces griseus. It acts by inhibiting the initiation and elongation processes during protein synthesis. (MeSH)

Preparation

  1. Solve Streptomycin sulfate 500mg in H2O or 20% EtOH aq.
  2. Adjust the volume to 50mL.
  3. Sterilize using filter and dispense into 1mL vials.
  4. Store at -20ºC.
  5. Use 1mL (1vial) in a 1L medium.
